Finished and healed cover up by Melanie! Before and after pictures (I hope that’s obvious).
People in the San Francisco Bay Area!! Want to get tattooed by me (Melanie)??
Now’s your chance!! I’ll be tattooing at Diving Swallow in Oakland for four days in January, and I still have some appointments available! Email me: melaniecatherine@gmail.com if you’re interested!
The days I have available are January 10 and 15.
See you in the sunshine!
Beautiful flowers!
Peonies and cute bugs by Melanie. This lovely lady traveled all the way from Saskatchewan to finish this beautiful piece! Aaaand she came bearing awesome presents.
Really thrilled about this one!
Also note, the stargazer lily (on back) is a cover up!
A couple weeks ago Melanie got to do this cover-up on the lovely Jenna. In January when Melanie goes down to the bay area they’ll be finishing it…ouch!
A lovely cover-up by Alena Chun! It’s amazing what you can do with a tattoo that is no longer what you had in mind. If you want something covered or fixed up, don’t be shy! Come on in and we can help you make it beautiful again!
Beginning of giant flower piece! The lily was too shiny for great close-ups, but the lily is a cover-up of an old tattoo. Snails, ants, peonies=so exciting.
COVERUP!
One of Melanie’s favorite tattoos she’s ever done! A giant cover-up on the lovely Katey. Picture taken after the first color session (apologies for shininess). Probably another four sessions before we’ll be done—color in remaining flowers, and a little more grey shading where necessary.
Goodbye, Ben Franklin-ass cupid!
Greek cover-up, progress pictures.
The first picture is a before picture (hopefully that’s pretty obvious), so that you can see what we’re transforming it from!
I’ve been documenting all the stages of this tattoo because I thought it would be nice for y’all to see how the process of a cover-up works. We laid in a whole bunch of black last time; now the old tattoo is almost gone! Next time we’ll finish out the remaining linework. If you’re curious, you can look back through our old posts and find the first couple posts about this project. At the very end I’ll do a cumulative post with pictures from each stage.
Cover-ups are fun and challenging like puzzles. This one is going to be awesome. I was a little nervous going into it because the original was giant, but it’s already all but eradicated! This is a really, really fun tattoo.

I got to see Sara and her lovely tattoo again the other day, thought I’d re-post it. One of my faves! Also, it’s a cover-up! Betcha can’t find the old tattoo. Hint: it was an armband.
